At MS 324, our core academic classes in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies are guided by the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards. Teachers use their in-depth knowledge of content areas and their students to meet every child where they are.
Student voice and choice are central to our approach. We build opportunities for students to actively participate in their own education through discussion, project-based learning, presentations, and more. Authentic, real-world experiences serve as the basis for academic growth — whether performing experiments in Science, connecting current events to history in Social Studies, applying problem-solving in Math, or exploring universal themes in ELA.
Our academics build the bridge between the fresh-out-of-elementary 6th graders who join us and the high-school-ready 8th graders we send off at graduation.
Spanish Bilingual
Students receive instruction in both their native language and English so they do not fall behind academically in content areas. Alongside core classes, students receive ESL instruction to develop speaking, writing, listening, and reading proficiency in English.
